Scriptures:

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Matthew: 19:4-6)

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a Nuptial Mass and a Nuptial Ceremony?

A Nuptial Mass includes the reception of Holy Communion and all of the steps that go along with that.

What is the Church's view on divorce?

The Catholic Church believes that marriages are for life.  However, our church realizes that there are circumstances beyond one’s control, which may lead to divorce.  As such we believe in the sanctity of marriage; and we believe that Jesus is merciful and those who have been divorced and/or remarried are offered the sacraments of the Church

Can we still get married in the Church if my partner is not Catholic?

If your partner is baptized Christian, then this is permitted.  However, if your partner is not baptized at all then a dispensation is required. Your partner must accept the obligation to persevere in the faith and to assure the baptism and Catholic education of their children.

Is Confirmation necessary before marriage?

It is preferred, but it is not required.  It should be noted that there should be an intent to receive this sacrament shortly afterwards.

Why do we need to complete Marriage Preparation?
Marriage preparation can help couples enhance their strengths, clarify expectations, identify areas needing change, learn and practice communication and conflict resolution skills, and develop more emotional and sexual intimacy. With attention and effort, most couples can create a strong relationship that will safeguard them against the inevitable strains of modern life.
